Let's reclaim free play!

In an increasingly structured and fast-paced world, free play has become a rare treasure,
a precious time that is too often absent from our children’s lives.
Through the Libere Ludere project, Libera Schola Foundation is dedicated to restoring to children and adolescents their natural right to play and leisure, creating safe spaces where they can experience the freedom to simply be themselves.

1. Fostering Creativity and Imagination: Free play enables children to explore, invent, and create without restrictions. This freedom is crucial for nurturing creativity and intellectual growth, allowing them to blossom as unique, innovative individuals.

2. Promoting Emotional and Physical Well-being:

Unstructured play offers a vital escape from daily pressures, supporting children’s physical health through movement and enhancing emotional resilience. It’s a time for them to relax, enjoy themselves, and build a strong foundation for coping with stress.

3. Building Essential Social Skills: Through spontaneous play, children naturally learn to negotiate, cooperate, and resolve conflicts. These interactions are fundamental for developing empathy, communication skills, and social competence that will serve them throughout their lives.

Teens often find themselves navigating a society that burdens them with commitments, high expectations, and social pressure. They urgently need spaces where they can freely express themselves and engage in healthy social interactions.

In daily life, opportunities for young people to gather in unstructured settings—free from competition and judgment—are becoming rare. Libere Ludere seeks to bridge this gap, offering safe, welcoming environments where teens can explore their interests, form authentic connections, and reflect on their experiences. Here, they can unwind and interact without predetermined agendas, fostering meaningful relationships and experiencing positive, pressure-free social engagement.

How to Participate

in the Project:

We are looking for spaces across Italy and passionate volunteers to become "Guardians of Free Play", dedicated individuals who, following specialized training, can support children and adolescents during these moments of freedom.

These spaces will serve as safe havens where young people can freely express themselves and thrive in a healthy, nurturing environment. If you have 4+ hours a week to give, please fill out the form in our Volunteers section.
